costa rica flights from miami

Things to do near Miami International Airport?
I’m flying into MIA at 6 PM one evening. The next morning, I’m leaving on a flight to costa rica. What can I do from 6 PM – 10 PM in Miami? I won’t meet up with my group until the next morning, so I want to stay safe as a single female. NO BARS/CLUBS.
Can I take a scenic walk someplace close?
Any fun (and safe) places to shop?
Any strips with good restaurants?
I’m hoping for something relatively close to my hotel near MIA.
Do not go outside the airport area alone as this is mostly warehouses and deserted after dark. I suggest taking a taxi to Coral Gables and have them drop you off at the corner of Ponce de Leon Blvd and Miracle Mile (Starbucks is right here). From there you can walk to the boutiques, shops, and restaurants. A nice place to eat is Ortaniques on the Mile which serves good Caribbean food. Or, Miss Saigon Bistro, Maroosh, City Cellar, Grazianos, Randazzos, etc. (some have websites) You can also find many sushi, steak, Italian, Vietnamese, wine bars, etc. within 4 blocks north or south and from Le Jeune Rd to Douglas Rd (west & east). There’s an independant bookstore Book & Books which is located in a beautiful spanish bldg and has a nice little cafe. They also have speakers, events, and live music. The book store is expensive but worth visiting if you like reading. The 1st Friday of every month is Gallery Night and you can visit the art galleries by walking or trolley (free). It is a nice way to spend the evening. Check the sites below for a list of stores, restaurants, and events. For incredible but expensive shopping you can take a taxi to Merrick Park (Nordstrom, Bebe, Roberto Cavalli, Tiffanys, Burberry, Coach, Gucci, Lacoste, etc.) They also have restaurants. It’s just a high-end mall so for me the downtown Coral Gables area is a better choice for things to do.
