costa rica foods and drinks

How much money should I bring with me to costa rica?
A couple of my friends and me are planning a trip at the end of the summer, and have all agreed on going to Costa Rica for an end of summer get away. The trip is going to cost a little over $800 per person, and I was curious as to how much money I should bring with me for food, drinks, souvenirs, and etc. I was thinking in the neighborhood of $500, but don’t really know if this is enough or more than I need. Anyone who has been down there if you could tell me the best amount to bring that would be much appreciated.
The trip is going to be a 6 night stay.
We do plan in parting when we are down there and going to the clubs. We were thinking of going scuba diving or some other things too.
Well $500 seems to be a reasonable amount, I dont think you are planning on eating on very fancy places so i would say you are going to spend $40 max in food per day, that would be around $200 in food. Drinks are around $2-3 each, im not sure how much you drink so i cant give you an estimate here. And well souvenirs, it really depends on how much you are planning to buy but as an advice, never take the first price they give you, always try and bargain a little and you’ll see how you will save quite a bit of money.
I’m pretty sure the $500 will do, but i would bring a debit/credit card with me just in case you are running low on money, you don’t want to find yourself with no money in a foreign country.
Hope this helps, Enjoy the trip
