costa rica guanacaste region

Has anybody here been to Guanacaste costa rica?
If so, what are your experiences from the region? Such as the night life etc…
I have to agree with oceanwav, have never understood why so many gringos flock to Guanacaste. The climate is very dry, vegetation is brown in the ” verano” season. I was referred there by a gringo pal way back in 1991. After 4 visits to towns there like Samara, Nicoya, Garza, Tamarindo and Nosara, I decided that there had to be better places within that heralded country. There was, and I discovered many as I explored further south along the Pacific coast. Places like Jaco, Quepos, Monteverde, La Fortuna, San Ramon, Arenal, Dominical, San Isidro de General and Sierpe, all are more interesting.
Just my opinion,..try them all if you can. Buena suerte !
