ASVO is a non-profit NGO which places volunteers in costa rica’s national parks and protected areas. ASVO’s objective is to improve the conditions and amount of volunteer work performed at a national and international level.

 Volunteers must be of age 18 or above with minimum education of high school. Volunteers with the following special skills are preferred for the placement:- Forestry Environmental Science Biology Volunteers are needed to help protect one of the most important marine environments in the area and its important coral reefs. This park is the home to an incredible marine ecosystem and without preservation efforts could be destroyed. The park is located on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, between Punta Uvita and Punta Panuela, in the province of Puntarenas. The park mostly contains beach land.

The park was created to maintain the critical habitats of many marine species for reproduction, and to preserve the productivity of the biological communities which are found within the park.

The park is home to species such as crabs, fish, lobsters, iguanas, howler monkeys, wild boar, and a number of different types of birds (among others).

There are whales between July/August and April (July-December from the Arctic, December-April from Oregon), and dolphins can also be seen at various points throughout the year.

Volunteers can assist by doing following tasks:- 1. Maintenance of the park’s trails. 2. Cleaning and protection of camping areas. 3. Maintenance of park facilities. 4. For those who speak Spanish, dealing with the public. 5. Cleaning and collection of garbage from the beach and camping areas.
