The Manas Wildlife Sanctuary – situated in the districy of Kamrup, Assam – is undoubtedly a seventh heaven amidst hillocks, meadows, nullahs, watercourses and the crystal clear water of the river Manas that flows through it. The forests of Manas, located 175 km north-west of Guwahati in the foothills below Bhutan, were constituted into a sanctuary in 1928. The Government of Bhutan has declared the forests in its area a sanctuary and plans to bring it under Project Tiger.
