costa rica Zoo in san jose?
Does anyone know if the costa rica zoo in San Jose has a website? I’ve tried a few searches, and I can find info on the zoo, but not if they have their own site. I’m doing my searches in English though so that might be messing up my results. If not, does anyone know FOR SURE if they have a tapir? (type of animal). I’m going to Costa Rica with a class from my University and I want to find out more info about the zoo and what animals they have to convice my professor that we should go. With the tapir being endangered and all, I thought it would be a great chance to see one along with many other animals. Thank you!
Hi! It does have a website: http://www.fundazoo.org/zoo.php
but, like the zoo, it’s a very poor one.
The name of the San Jose zoo is Parque Zoológico Simón Bolívar. It is a very simple, humble one. They do have a “danta”,which is a kind of tapir.

According to wikipedia, this is the definition of a danta:
Danta is the common name for the three species of tapir found in Latin America, the Baird’s Tapir, Brazilian Tapir, and the Mountain Tapir. The name comes from the old Spanish word for an elk-like grazing animal. A young tapir is sometimes referred to as “dantica”.
