learn spanish for costa rica
What is the best way for a Canadian teen to learn Spanish?

I’m a 17-year-old girl, and I’m very interested in learning Spanish. I was recently in costa rica and Panama, and I plan on volunteering in Peru next year as well as visiting Spain in 2 years. What is the best way to become fluent in Spanish? I have absolutely no Spanish skills at all, but I’m close to being fluent in French. I’m not able to take Spanish classes at my high school, and I don’t have any friends who speak Spanish. Should I get private lessons, buy tapes, or what? Also, should I just learn to speak in Spanish, or should I learn to read and write it as well? I would only use Spanish when travelling.

with no teachers availabe, I’d go with the software rosetta stone. It will be cheaper then a private tutor in the long run, and will def. get the job done

also it will help you a little with reading and writing, but you will mostly focus on speaking- def. the most important for the reason you want it.

good luck
